Intellectual Property
Copyright South Africa
- Update: The Copyright Amendment Bill B13F-2017 has been awaiting signature by the President for 4 months. The President must, within a reasonable period, act in terms of Section 79(4) of the SA Constitution. Assent to the Bill has been delayed by ongoing lobbying from rightsholder, multinationals and collecting societies, but also because of the national elections which took place on 29 May 2024 and the establishment of a Government of National Unity in recent days.
